Google AdWords is a form of SEM or, (search engine marketing)

Search engine marketing is the application of structured advertising campaigns across search engines such as Google or Yahoo.

Google’s advertising program is called "Google Adwords". Yahoo’s advertising program is called "sponsored search". They are both PPC (pay per click) models of advertising. This means that when someone clicks on your ad, you pay Google or Yahoo for that click.

 

The majority of my customers have their own custom designed Google Adwords advertising program. I have found that Google works better for my customers than Yahoo.
